Alexander McCune
Psychotherapist
Many folks come to therapy because their life-long coping skills are not working anymore and it feels like life is collapsing. Maybe you feel crushed by trauma and feel you don’t have the tools to manage it; maybe you are overwhelmed with shame for causing trauma and feel broken and unredeemable.
I believe that everyone has the capacity for growth and change; I also believe that process is often difficult and non-linear. The good news is that you don’t need to do this alone. I am here to sit with you and walk alongside you in your journey. My aim is to hold space where you can bring your full self with all of the beauty and messiness that entails. There may be parts of you that you find painful to engage with or perhaps even want me to fix or remove; these are often the parts that need the most care and attention. In this process I will listen to you, at times challenge you, and actively collaborate with you in working through these experiences.
As someone who has done and continues to do my own therapeutic work, I recognize that therapy can be a difficult experience. However, over time this work can help you see yourself, be with yourself and care for yourself as you are, which can lead to needed healing, change, and relief.
Starting therapy is a courageous act, even if it doesn’t feel that way. I am here when you are ready.
